Even being in a state so close to our home state, one that us girls have visited before, with the help of our Kentucky family we discovered some amazing things that we didn't know were there!
One of these places was the Swope's Cars of Yesteryear museum.
This museum was a unique place where we were able to be right next to over fifty antique cars (and that was only part of the collection!)
Jennifer and her future car: A jungle green 1953 Jaguar XK.
Not only were we in a room with some sweet rides, there was also a detailed history of the cars & a multitude of interesting tales each car had to tell! Among these stories were those of Bonnie & Clyde, as well as escapes from Hitler in Germany!
Thunderbird girls :) ...pink of course!
"I get up each morning because at my age I know I have to keep going and enjoy my life."
We got the opportunity to meet and spend time with some spectacular, smiling Kentucky volunteers as we chatted, danced to music, and laughed a lot!
"Because God gives me the opportunity to live another day."
"I got up this morning because I have a child to support."
"God has blessed me to be able to get up."
"I got up to work the commodity give away."
"I got up this morning to serve God."
"Everyday is an opportunity to give God glory through our lives. We have to get up to take advantage of that opportunity."
"I get up everyday because I am blessed and each day there is always something new. My children and the world we live in."
"Because the Good Lord wants me vertical and not horizontal today!:)"
"I get up every morning (with a smile) because God blessed me with four(4) beautiful children who depend on me! Blessed beyond words :)"
Our sweet Kentucky family made us mouthwatering Hot Browns!
Close your eyes and picture a slice of bread...deliciously thick bread...
...bread piled with turkey...
...smothered in thick, creamy cheese sauce...
and the world's best food: Bacon.
Savory, crisp bacon laid delicately on top like it was a work of art.
A wonderful dinner made by wonderful people...what more can we tell you?
Thank you, thank you, thank you to our Kentucky family!
It was incredible to be able to see y'all again & for you to help us truly experience Kentucky!
"To try to live fully another day the Lord has blessed me with. Our family has found out that waking up in the morning is not a certainty for us."
"I get up in the morning because the alternative (lying in bed) is not the natural order of things. God made us to work and then rest and we should conform to how he made us and try to always conform to his plan and will."
"If I'm literal about it I can guarantee that I get up to 1)pee and 2)because the alarm is blaring and I really shouldn't push "snooze" again. Then I head off to work to do my part in raising and educating the next generation of America's leaders. Why do I get up to do that? Well, so I can tell them about all the amazing places God has created in the world and to earn a paycheck so I can get out and see as many of those amazing places with my own eyes as I can."
Merely a hop, skip, and an interstate away from our home state (& next stop!) Indiana, we were pretty anxious to be that much closer to seeing our family. But we couldn't pass up an opportunity to visit the beautiful Berheim Forest! A few hours in the soulful, quiet woods can re-energize anyone.
It was the perfect day, and place, to sit on a bench and rest a while....
Or take a nap! Which ever one you fancy. :)
You could probably visit Berheim every day of the year and still see something new or take a new trail every time! This particular trail took us back to a place that we had all been quite a long time ago.
We had visited the Tree Top Overlook with some friends when we were a lot younger, so it was definitely still something new & different when we walked across it this time! (Especially since the height gap between your feet and the ground doesn't seem as daunting as it did when you were nine!)
Standing on this overlook, literally the only thing between your toes and the tops of the forest is a slab of wood! It isn't quite so scary just as long as you focus more on how pretty the view is...
...and don't think about the fall too much...
...or think about how much the bridge is swaying...
Love from the treetops of Kentucky,
The Crew
