Turtles, Trains, and Tropical Smoothies

"So, just the other day....", as all interesting stories begin, we pick up once more in gorgeous Michigan on the second day of our trip. And as all good mornings begin, we started our day off with some deliciously fresh Michigan grown cantaloupe for breakfast. No good story is properly finished without a few melon pictures.

With our friend Abby as our delightful tour guide we wandered over to a local pet store to see her brother Chris (and Jennifer wanted to see the fish (:  )

This is the most adorable turtle you will ever see. We've named him Ted. Ted the Turtle.

As cool and brightly colored as these frogs were, they were not dead or plastic. They were very much alive, just ridiculously beautiful.

Knowing always that "literacy expands the horizons of our intellectual capabilities" it was time for us to expand our horizons...at the local library in Michigan.

....confession....it was also a must-see because they have trains.....

Down the street from the library was Dahlia Hill---which happened to be in full bloom.
We found Narnia:

Some Dark Magic:

And Crazy Legs:

Walking around so many flowers really put us into the tropical mood. Which made Abby think of Tropical Smoothies (a favorite hang out in the area).

Today's smoothie choices: Peanut Butter Cup, Mocha, and Tropicolada.
(You can probably guess who got the peanut butter one...)

Tropical smoothie's colorfully embossed lids:

And in classi
Sarah style she made sure we got the full scenic tour....of the same stretch of road....several times. We eventually found our way along the "yellow flower road" (a beautiful stretch of roadway with stretches of yellow flowers as an outline).

Still sipping on smoothies back at our friend's home, us three girls were oriented in proper newspaper folding. Quite delighted, we discovered they finished product looked something like that of a heart.

Peace, Love, and Smoothies from Michigan.
