Experiencing Atlanta From The Sky

Beginning our day, it was time to explore the great city of Atlanta.
As we were getting ready to head out, one of our Georgia family’s sweet little boys comes hurriedly running up the stairs to tell us that they had brought us home some doughnuts!
These were from a local shop, Ray’s.
Their specialty? Maple Bacon Doughnuts.
Our reaction? Heavenly.

We decided to escape the brisk weather of Atlanta by making the World of Coca Cola our first stop!

“Coffee!”

However prepared we may be for many adventures, it seems as though one can never really be prepared for the high security present around securing the vault where the secret Coca-Cola recipe is held.

Ladies and Gentleman, please keep your hands and tastebuds to yourself.

With each room in the two level building you were able to immerse yourself in Coke memorabilia and history; including exhibits, a 4D short film, and Coca Cola advertisements from all around the world.
We really didn't know that we'd be able to experience international travel too!

Perhaps one of the more interesting and experiential rooms was the (mostly delicious) famous Tasting Room.

Each tasting station is organized by the Coke products of that continent! From sweet to sour, to delicious to…unique, you have the opportunity to love or leave a huge multitude of soda flavors. In addition to sodas from all the continents, we even discovered a few North American drinks we’d never tried before!

Over 100 flavors later we had tried every drink at every station…

...but even with all the soda we had...

“Hope that this day will be better than the last.”

…we were still eager to have a Coke to go!

After all that caffeine we needed some substantial and nutritious foods…

…so naturally we went to the world’s largest drive-in, The Varsity, for some chili cheese slaw dogs!
Even though it was cold, we got their signature Orange Frosty too! The best way we can describe it is a medley of a dreamsicle ice cream and an orange slushi!

Regardless of their famous foods, they’re also known for their unique way of taking your order. From behind the counter they’ll yell:
“What’ll ya have? What’ll ya have?”
And you better be quick to answer or they’re on to the next customer!

Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta where the 1996 Olympics were held!

We all enjoyed wandering around the park and seeing the tribute to the Olympic games through the sculptures and writings that honored the competitors.

No matter what kind of conflict is going on in the world, the Olympic games seem to be a way to unite all countries in a magnificent competitive event.

As a mecca of food vendors, shops, the world's longest freestanding escalator, and CNN network headquarters, CNN Center is quite the busy place!

“That first breath of air.”

Skyview Atlanta (a huge ferris wheel) allowed us to see a spectacular view of downtown Atlanta as the sun was setting.

We were ever so grateful for the (heated!) pods which safely carried us high above the city for an unmatched view of the skyline.

After having just experienced the city from the sidewalk, it was incredible to be able to see the city from 20 stories into the sky!

“To go out and try to change the world.”

We started out the day with a bucket list of things we wanted to see in Atlanta, but experienced so much more than the places we wrote down.

To being 20 stories into the air as the sunset on an Atlanta night,
To the laughter and giggles as we made our way back to the car,
To good food & good people,
Love,
The Crew
