For The Love Of A Tree

There's something intriguing about New Orleans.
Perhaps it's the way that their French Market feels exotic and yet still distinctly Louisiana culture...

...Maybe it's the streets and the architecture that almost entice you to think that you have stepped through the looking glass and into a new world entirely...

...Or maybe it's just Cafe Dumond's beignets & cafe au lait!
We think it's a pretty good mix of all three.

Be wary of inhaling the powdered sugar!

Jackson Square could be considered an idyllic place for  New Orleans.
The streets were filled with performers and there was music at every french inspired corner as we meandered into the St. Louis Cathedral to admire it's stunning architecture and detail.

Just on the brink of the city and the French Quarter, the Riverwalk is a wonderful place to take a stroll and enjoy Louisiana's unbelievably warm weather.

You'll have to stop every once in a while and remind yourself that it really is still January.

"I get up in the morning for my kids!"

Remembering the suggestion of a friend back home that we should visit a spectacular tree that they had stumbled on during their last visit to Louisiana, we began our search for "an incredible block wide tree that is next to a church".
We'd combed the streets for quite a while looking for this amazing tree before we finally decided it might be a good idea to just ask someone for some help with directions.
Who better to ask than the guys who probably know the most about the area?

"Opportunity-because anything can happen."

"I get up in the AM because everyday brings the chance to discover something new & do something great."
"Big bowl of granola, coffee, cream, sugar, sunshine...my love!"

They said that we might find our destination in the City Park at a famous place called the Singing Tree.
It sounded incredible enough to be what we were looking for!
But in the meantime, they also told us not to live the French Quarter without slipping into the Central Grocery for their famous Muffulettas!

It's a great sandwich!...if you love olives.

And so to the City Park we continued our patrol for the tree!
Well. We saw a lot of the park.
And none of the tree.
So we stopped and asked for help again...
...several times...
...before we found someone who knew where the Singing Tree was!

"To get school over with. To see my friends."
"To see my daughter's face---a wonderful reason to live."

While the Singing Tree was lovely with it's chimes dangling from the branches, as soon as we got out of the car we knew it still wasn't the tree we had been looking for...

...but while our tree finding skills aren't exactly up to par, we sure do know how to find great restaurants with mouthwatering po-boy sandwiches!

An iced King Cake coffee in Uptown New Orleans ended our day...
...but the search for the tree was sure to continue!

To beignets, coffee, & sunshine,
Love,
The Crew + Stephanie
