The Day We Fell in Love with a Beaver

We’ve never agreed more with a bag that holds irresistible pastries in it than we have with this one!
Everyone deserves a donut. Especially these donuts. They were wonderful. So wonderful that we accidently ate them all before we got the chance to take a picture…

"Because it is the first step in changing the world around you."

The drive out to San Antonio wasn’t too long at all when we knew what great adventures were ahead of us.

Our first stop was the epicenter of the city’s historical landmarks. To walk among the walls and grounds of the Alamo is to remember it like never before and reflect on the brave souls of those who lost their lives in the name and foundation of our great nation.

"To start a new day."

If you follow the walkways away from the streets and towards the rushing waters, you’ll find yourself relaxing and meandering down their cherished Riverwalk. Make sure you’re hungry and sit down for some yummy Tex-Mex or Mexican food!

Be wary of the ducks though! They’ll creep out from the river and beg right at your feet for just a taste of your food! But just as soon as you’re finished, they’ll waddle right away to the next lucky victim’s table.

"I get up because of my God that I am very happy to wake up because of my God."

"The reason why I get up or even exist is because of Jesus."

Sometime’s we find really neat things to explore…and sometimes, they really just turn out to be a flop…
We were ecstatic to see this 3D Mural just outside of downtown! Until we looked through the 3D glasses and realized it looks just the same way as it did from the windows in our car…

Never take wooden nickels from strangers! Unless they happen to be the World’s Largest that is. Don’t forget to stop off inside their museum!

It must take a really special person to fill these boots. That or a whole lot of concrete. Either way, this was definitely a one of a kind stop! Much unlike our next one.

Like we said, sometimes we find neat stuff, but sometimes we just can’t see what the hype is. And so this is where we started ghost hunting…and also very shortly ended it. Cliffnote version of the legend has it that a long time back a group of small children were on these train tracks when their bus stalled, and the train cars ultimately collided with it. Visitor’s now claim that if you stop your vehicle on the tracks, you will see the ghosts of the children and they will push your car to safety so you don’t experience the same fate that they did.

Well, we tried. And then we turned around and tried it again. The only thing we saw was a very eerie white shaggy dog and the only thing we experienced was Newton’s law of gravity.

But then we fell in love with a beaver. And everything was right again in the world.

Buc-ee’s is basically the southern Texas exclusive Sam’s club of gas stations. Anything you could possibly ever need, leave it to the beaver to have it!

I mean, just look at that face. What isn’t there to love?
And it all begins with the great anticipation that comes from the billboard advertisements you see on the side of the highway...starting more than 300 miles away!

Fuel for cars and humans? In abundance.
A whole new wardrobe? All the latest beaver fashions.
Kolaches? Every flavor.
Wedding registry? You know it.
Gloriously clean bathrooms? That’s what they're famous for!

Thank you to our lovely Southern Texas family! It was so good to see you all again and catch up! Thanks for showing us around San Antonio…and introducing us to great donuts and mouthwatering barbeque!

"Because God gave me a new day!"
"Just to see what's new today!"

Leave it to the Beaver,
Love,
The Crew
