Trolly People!

We continue our journey, asking everyone we meet the same question - Why do you get up in the morning?

"To wake my wife and get another kiss. Never enough! :)"

"To spend another wonderful day with my husband and family.  Love keeps us together."

"I get up because I love my family and want to provide the best for them, so I work in order to do that."
"I get up to see my family and dogs! And go to work!"

"I wake up in the morning to see all the beautiful people in my life... and to play with my puppies."
"I wake up to see my friends and family, to work, to live, life is short.  You gotta wake up to see it."

Adventurers we may be, we are fully aware that sometimes we can get a bit creative when it comes to what 'trails' mean.  That being said, our Northern California family knew exactly the perfect lookout for a view of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco!

Watch your toes! We didn't fall over, but instead lived to tell the tale and take on our next adventure --- driving (ahem well riding) down Lombard street, the crookedest street in America with eight hairpin turns!  Thanks to Lance's expert driving, we all made it safely to the bottom.

So close to the sea, we spent some time exploring the piers and then stopped for a delicious lunch of chowder in bread bowls!  Usually order doesn't matter very much when one is munching, but in the case of the bread bowl, one must always remember to eat the soup first and the bread second.

Tucked away in a warehouse, Jennifer had heard about a collection of antique working coin operated arcade games!  And must we say, we had quite a fun time!  With over 200 games on display, Sarah wondered if you wanted to play each game once, exactly how much it might cost...

Although we didn't test that theory, we did try our hand at a couple games including the 'Arm Wrestler.' (like from Princess Diaries!).

As we left, we couldn't help but notice this memory, marked by a plaque which reads:
"Ann & Sam 55th Wedding Anniversary.  They met here at Pier 45 in 1945"  Awww

Cable Car time!

One ride and we were basically pros for the trip back.

The lights of Ghirardelli Square (which is an actual square) beckoned us with the sparkle and promise of chocolate.

As we sat eating our Ghirardelli chocolate sundae (a must-eat recommendation from our Southern California family!), it's safe to say, we were not disappointed.

Then it was time to pick a spot for sunset, this particular pier looked promising, however please note - "No Taking Dungeness Crabs"...  and Jennifer says, "but what if we get hungry?"

This fellow apparently got hungry, and did not pay attention to the signs.

We were really glad to have such a beautiful spot to watch the sun go down.

Another beautiful day with beautiful people!

Jennifer spent a little time trying to creep up on this cute bird to get a few pictures.

The trick was to move slowly along the concrete before he moves....or notices her! Her camo pants wouldn't help her blend in this time!

"I get each day because I love life.  Everyday is a mystery and there's no telling what gift you might discover."

When getting ready this morning, Jennifer didn't realize she needed to get so dressed up for her date tonight. He still loves her anyways.

We were so glad for the hospitality of our Northern California Family!  Thank you all ever so much for our fun times together as we explored San Francisco over food, trolly riding, and getting to know you!

Once we left the waters of the sea, it was time to do some driving through a tree!  Yes, you read that right THROUGH. A. TREE!  But first, a bit of wandering through the forest to get to the tree.

The Chandelier Tree stands in a privately owned park and driving through it has been possible since 1937!

Our Queen Emma, fit just perfectly!

At the time the space was cut, it was estimated that the tree was 2,000 years old and 315 feet tall.

Always are we ever grateful for the kindness of strangers who offer to take our picture.

"To not be lazy!  To make my husband breakfast.  To see what the day is going to bring!"

To bread bowls & driving through trees,
Love,
The Crew
