Winter Wonderland

Minnesota greeted us with a flurry of winter wonderland!

"Because we need to get to our cathedral to fix supper for homeless people. After, we rehearse a choral piece by Sir Edgar Elgar."
"Basically celebrating creation in our retirement years."

This snowy, winter's day made the Walker Arts Sculpture Garden is a beautiful place to stroll through and see all of the sculptures glistening with snow.

Don't miss seeing all 5,800 pounds of the spoon, and 1,200 pound cherry, in the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture!

On an especially cold winter day, some say you can even walk across the frozen pond and touch it! We opted for just the photograph, our walking on water days were long left in the Rockies!

On the way to our next destination, we happened upon St. Mary's Basilica, only to discover that it is the first Basilica that was ever built in America!

We were amazed by the ornate architecture and vibrant color as soon as we walked through the doors.

This historic site is a breathtaking place to visit, but it is also representative of the beautiful faith of those who come together to worship and build community within these walls.

Sometimes we find things that we'd like to see, but they don't exactly come with helpful instructions. Some of them are vague, some of them are outdated, and some of them just simply lead you on a wild goose chase.
That's why we are always ever so grateful to the kindness of strangers who help us to fill in the blanks and make sure that we're not entirely lost.

"Because I can."
"I am happy to see a new day."

Thanks to a bit of vague instructions and some pointers from others on the trail, we found the home of Mr. Little Guy, a rather famous elf!

Until recently when Mr. Little Guy upgraded to a P.O. Box, for many years during the summer, children were able to open his little door and leave notes for him...and then come back a few days later to see that he'd replied!

Wandering next into the Mall of America, we knew it was going to be pretty big.

But we had no idea that the mall also included a marriage chapel complete with dresses, tuxes, and anything else you might need on your special day (all except the groom of course!).

To the magic of snow, elves, and wedding chapels in shopping malls.
Love,
The Crew
