Meet Our Friends: The Bison!

Welcome to Cody, Wyoming, where the deer run freely & gracefully through the yards and streets of the neighborhood...

...where the weather is warm, and the people are sweet!

"To live life to it's fullest, bringing glory to God!"

While we left for the day knowing that the east entrance of Yellowstone was closed, we still wanted to make the drive out there to see some of Wyoming's wonderful sights!

President Theodore Roosevelt once called this stretch of road from Cody to the east entrance of Yellowstone, "the fifty most beautiful miles in America".

And well, Mr. President, we very much agree with you. The drive was fascinating.

But what made this stretch of road even more phenomenal, was that one minute we were just simply coasting along...

...and then the next second we were riding right along next to some enormous bison!
We'd been wanting to see them for so long that this sighting alone made the drive well worth it!

And so we made it all the way to the road closed sign!

Melting snow and all!

If you look closely to the left you might be able to pick out Jeanette and Jennifer sitting on a piece of fallen rock that's about the size of the both of them!

They wanted to take it as a souvenir, but that proved to be quite a problem once they tried to pick it up! Not to mention finding room in the trunk for it...

We saw lots of wildlife on our drive...including these wild sheep that were hanging out in the middle of the road....licking it...we weren't quite sure what they were exactly tasting on the road, but we didn't think that it could be good for them!

Because of the way that the rocks have formed, this particular hiking trail is famous for it's silhouette resemblance to the Holy City.

You have to lean forward as you're walking to avoid getting blown away by the ferocious winds of Wyoming!

Curious about what the sheep we'd seen earlier had been doing, we saw signs for the Wild Sheep Foundation and stopped in to see if they could answer a few of our questions!

Not only did they tell us that the sheep had been licking the road salt, but they also gave Jennifer a wild goat stuffed animal! Little did they know that she'd been longing for a pet since the very first state! The girls kept saying no to parrots, fish, snakes, and bison, but now, she'd finally found a pet that they were okay with. :)

"I get up in the morning when the alarm goes off---start the day with coffee & a shower---each day is a gift and I look forward to each challenge."

One of the last frontiers to be settled in the lower 48 states, Cody, Wyoming is rich with the history and flavor of the wild, wild west.

"I wake up to see what wonderful things are in the store for me on each day."

Named for his youngest daughter, Buffalo Bill once called the Irma Hotel "the sweetest hotel there ever was". One of the most photographed features in the hotel, the famous cherry wood bar that resides inside the restaurant portion of the hotel, was a gift to Buffalo Bill from Queen Victoria herself!

And while it's beautiful inside of the buildings, if you step outside, you'll be greeted by some even more magical sights.

To the wondrous mountainside,
Love,
The Crew
