We Took a Snow Day

We thought that we were going to be alright.
We'd checked the weather report and the snow wasn't supposed to come in before late in the afternoon.
So while most of Glacier Park was closed, we thought it'd be fascinating to take the twelve miles of the Going to the Sun road that was open.
We were all bundled up...
...We were fourteen minutes away...

...And then the Going to the Sun road started looking like it was going to be more of a Going to Superman's Big Icy Fortress of Solitude as it was Collapsing in a Whirlwind of Snow.
So...we drove until the mountains we saw disappeared into a flurry of snow.

You see these mountains?
Yeah, we did too.

That is, until ten minutes later when those same mountains looked like this:

We drove until we couldn't see anymore. And then we turned around. While we have snow chains, we didn't necessarily want to put ourselves in a situation where we had to use them.
Still wanting to do some exploring that day, Jennifer started giving driver Sarah the directions to Kerr Dam that was on the way back to where we were staying.

Jennifer thought her directions were simple enough: Stay on 'Kerr Dam road.'

So when Sarah non-chalantly zipped right on by where the road curved, Jennifer, exasperated and without thinking shouts to the front seat:
"Gosh Sarah! I told you to turn right and just stay on the Dam road!"...
Realizing exactly how what she had just said sounded like, she was mortified and promptly buried her head in the pillow next to her.

"...to make each day better than the one before it."

So for all these reasons, we snuggled up with lots of blankets, a pan of brownies, and took a snow day looking out onto breathtaking Flathead lake.

Being homeschooled our whole lives, there was never any dangerous weather that prevented us from actually doing our school. So today, it was really nice to experience our very first 'snow day' and enjoy some superb views of the lake and Montana's glorious mountains.

Here's to driving until we can't see anymore,
And staying on the {Kerr} Dam road ,
Love,
The Crew
